FAITH: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Hebrews 11:6

PRAYER: Pray without ceasing.  1 Thessalonians 5:17

UNITY: I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. 1 Corinthians 1:10  NIV

FOCUS: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

TRAINING: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16

 CORE VALUES

They are non-negotiables you want  reflected in your small group. Value defines the character of the small group. They communicate what is important to a specific small group. Core values define what cannot be changed in the midst of great change. They are the basis of behavior.

SMALL GROUP CORE VALUES

INTEGRITY: honesty, truthfulness; making a right decision and sticking to it.
The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out. Proverbs  10:9 NIV

ORDER: organized, uniformed; to have a set structure or pattern.
Let all things be done in decency and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:40

COMMITMENT: firmly fixed; unmovable; dedicated; giving of self; not allowing anything to distract you.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.  1 Corinthians 15:58

ACCOUNTABILITY: to be answerable, responsible, and liable to  God and others; to support and encourage one another in ways that promote spiritual integrity in us as believers.
Brothers and sisters, if someone in your group does something wrong, you who are spiritual should go to that person and gently help make him right again. But be careful, because you might be tempted to sin, too. By helping each other with your troubles, you truly obey the law of Christ.  Galatians 6:1-2

EXCELLENCE: performing above the norm; always at one’s best; decent and in order.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.   Psalm 8:1

CONCLUSION

In the local church there is a need for small group ministries to help accomplish the ministry assignments set forth in God’s vision to the Pastor.

As stated by a noted author, “Moses needed a team to lead the people of Israel to the promised land. Jesus trained a team of disciples to take the gospel to the nations and Paul traveled with a team to plant churches.

While there may be leaders that will lead the team, it will require a team effort to accomplish the work of the ministry.
